Dennis Smith, 67, of Leachville, passed from this life Sunday, May 10, 2020, at his home after a two year battle with two different types of cancer. Born and raised in Senath, Mo., he was the son of the late Chester Lee and Athena "Inez" Smith and had been a longtime Missouri resident before making his home in Northeast Arkansas. He was a 1970 graduate of Senath High School and retired from Viskase Casing Company of Osceola in 2017. Dennis enjoyed hunting arrowhead and Indian artifacts, fishing and John Wayne movies. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Kennett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Marrlin Wayne Smith and Terry Gene Smith; and one sister, Brenda Sue Austin.. ...

Manila water back on; boil order in effect

The city of Manila will be under a boil order for three days according to Joe Chipman, maintenance supervisor. A six-inch water line on Highway 77 north of Beauchamp Corner was cut at approximately 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon. Manila crews worked throughout the night to make repairs. Water was restored early Tuesday morning but due to the fact the water had to be shut off, the boil order will be in effect for several days...
