BLYTHEVILLE— Blytheville Mayor Melissa Logan told members of Lion’s Club Tuesday the city plans to upgrade the tennis court area in Walker Park.
According to Logan, the city plans to turn the tennis court area into a “multiplex” to include a basketball court, a pickleball court, an ABA certified playground with shelter for children with disabilities, and a tennis court.
“That tennis court area will be a multiplex,” explained Logan. “So we will have several things happening in that area so that it will be in use and not just sitting there as people drive by and watch it deteriorate. It kind of saddens my heart that we’ve allowed it to be that way for so long.”
Logan’s guest to Lion’s Club was Marty Glover, of Playwell Group, assessed the court earlier in the day Tuesday and Logan stated she was informed the entire court will have to “come down” and be “resurfaced and reconfigured.”
Logan added, “The condition of our city only changes when are we actively excited about it changing. We can talk about, but when we put our hands to service like we do as Lions every day it’s for the greater good of everyone.”
